NEVER EVER SEEN THIS IN MY LIFE ALL FILES ARE NOW GONE FROM CATALINA 10 15 6 UPDATE!

This is a nightmare, I have had mac s from 1994 and i have never witnessed this and Apple Support is baffled as they have to get back to me on Monday as I was told to shut my machine and DO NOT REBOOT or turn on.

What you are about to read makes absolutely no sense to anyone who knows computers, but what happened to me is a FIRST in Apple history , ready? Try to explain this as I will give you the steps.

I bought a brand new Mac Pro 2019 (K with the pegasus 8 tb back up drive.

Migrated all my files from a Mac Pro 2012, everything worked fine. Was very happy then all of a sudden I got the Mac update banner to go from 10.15.5 to 10.15.6 .

So at the end of the day Tuesday Aug 4th the machine was updated manually and everything seemed fine.

Next morning I was going thru mails and had Google Chrome open then decided to go around the corner to the bagel store. When I come back I go to open a new tab in Google and the page is not responding. So I go to open another instance of Google Chrome from the dock and I see the icon has a question mark? Finding this weird, I try to to a restart ( the black apple I *** does not click to open the dropdown, so I call up the manual window to restart and no response to the clicks. I finally shut my powerstrip off and do a cold restart, after the machine boots I still have the question mark in the google icon in the dock, so I decide to try to open some other apps in the dock and I see that all NON APPLE and ADOBE creative cloud apps hav e question marks. Weird right? so now I double click my hard drive and I see that ALL NON APPLE APPS are gone!

So know I open my BACK up hard drive, basically a clone of the start up drive created with carbon copy cloner. And in that drive I see the missing apps ARE THERE. So before I do anything call apple support, brand new machine and something is very wrong. I get tech support and the remote in to my machine and tell me to do various tasks , check get info, but nothing like I thought they would do but long story short after 1 1/2 hours of two tech guys and a supervisor nobody could answer me how this happened. ( this is not a knock on Apple support at all as they admitted they never saw this before). So the only thing I could do was to COPY all the missing APPS from my BACKUP drive to my hard drive and open each to make sure they worked and they did.

Still no answer to why that happened but that was just the tip of the iceberg, now what you are about to read will not make sense but here goes.

This morning, I do my normal routine, but I left for 4 hours leaving the machine on, screen saver takes over after two minutes and that was that. I come back 4 hours later, go to open my mail and the window is frozen can't open so same scenerio I have to shut down hard and restart. Next thing I know the machine boots into the screen when you do a security or apple update ( its grey with a white box that says do you want to share analyitics with Apple, then please add apple id or you can skip so I'm saying to myself what the heck is this. So I skip to the last step and the machine boots up to a different screen saver and my icons and fonts underneath them are very large. Now I'm amazed as I look in the dock and see all my apps are gone again but this time I open my hard drive and see ALL MY FILES AND NON APPLE APPS ARE GONE, I open my back up drive and the SAME THING, only folders inside no files pics docs NOTHING. Now I have ANOTHER EXTERNAL DRIVE WITH 3 PARTITIONS , AND THOSE FILES ARE GONE AS WELL. last but not least, I had an USB external stick plugged in with music on it and THOSE FILES ARE GONE. I unplugged the external drives and plugged then nto my MacBook Pro and it shows NO FILES on the drive.

I called Apple support and they could not explain this I was told to shut the computer down and do NOT open until Monday when a tech will remote in to find out what happened.

How is it possible for anything to wipe out ALL your drives with the apps and files on every drive plugged into this machine? It Makes NO SENSE what so ever, where are the files? Where did they go? They disappeared on my BACKUPS as well? Did anybody ever see this?

I lost months of work that I cannot get back, I have other peoples files on here that I will no doubt be sued for , I will lose my job and this will cripple my life.

How in Gods name could this happen?

anybody????? I don't think so cause its so absurd, now I have to wait until Monday for Apple support to call back.
