can't write to dual layer dvd

Have usb DVD burner a1379 can't burn a dual layer dvd on Mac desktop 2003 . it worked last year using Mac OS Mojave

iMac 27″, macOS 10.14

2003, or 2013? 2003 Macs can't run 10.14 Mojave. They can run 10.4. Numbers are all important.
