The Tempo Fader object must be inserted between the Physical Input and the Sequencer Input.
Use the tempo fader in Logic Pro - Apple Support
The Fader is not adding to the MIDI values. It is mapping MIDI values to the Tempo Range of Logic. If you reduce the range of MIDI values it is mapped to the corresponding sub-range of Tempo.
As for the rest, I can see different ways to achieve exactly what you're looking for (e.g.: some MIDI transform before the Fader). I would have to do some tests but I can't now. I'm sure you will figure it out. The Environment is really powerfull.
Hope that helps,
WD
You can set the MIDI range used in the object inspector. I'm not sure what you mean by "set point"?
Maybe I don't understand your question?

Hello Wild Drums,
Thank you for your reply. Currently the "tempo fader" in the Midi Environment "adds 50" to the usual 0 to 127 midi signal range so that it goes between 50 and 177 bpm. The midpoint (set point) is halfway between 50 and 177 or 114 bpm. When you use a pitch bend wheel that is "self centering" it sits at 114 bpm and as soon as you touch it the tempo jumps to 114 and then moves. So changing the range of the "tempo fader" and possibly the "mid-/set point is what I was hoping you could do.
I have gone to the inspector and entered new values ("10 50") to replace the "0 127" and it appears to accept them (they appear in the box) but when I activate the pitch bend wheel the fader still seems to run from 50 to 177 as if it is allowing/accepting signals ranging from 0 to 127 from the midi controller. So either there is another setting that I need to engage in the inspector to "ignore/reject" incoming midi signals outside the stipulated range (e.g. "10 50") or that setting isn't functioning. (If it worked I would expect the "tempo fader" to run between 60 and 100 bpm (midpoint set point of 80 bpm). The value of this is that I can subtly slow the tempo from 80 to ~70 in real time and by releasing the pitch bend wheel it will "pop back" immediately to 80 bpm. That would be a wonderfully musical way to insert a ritardando into a piece.
Again, thank you for your thoughts and assistance - if you can find a way to make the "range" functional on this "tempo fader" (inserted between the keyboard and Logic in the midi environment - Clicks and Ports window) I'll buy you a beer - or two - or three!
Many thanks again for your efforts,
Bruce
Hello Wild Drums,
Indeed that is what I have done following the directions - it works fine...but I can't control the range see inserted picture. Any further thoughts on how to make this happen - even next week - I'd be very grateful - I've tried every "button" I can think of...
Thanks in advance,
Bruce
