Touch ID does not work with my new MacBook Air running OS 10.15.6.
I have done all of the suggested remedial things I can find in forums like this.
It just plain old does not work. Pity, really, because Mac is promoting it as a great new feature. Would be if it worked.

If your MacBook Air is brand new, I would say you got a defective one and exchange it for a new one.
I have now deactivated the touch ID feature and deleted all my fingerprints. The machine works much better. It looks as if Apple needs to go back the the drawing board with its Touch ID feature on the MacBook Air. With this machine and in my hands, it does not work.

You have not told me anything that is not available on the web. Of course, I have done all of that. I have deleted old fingerprints and added new ones ad nauseam. Nothing seems to make any difference. I would, however, like Apple to admit/acknowledge that the much vaunted touch ID feature on their MacBook Air just does not work.
