Do you not have Finder> Preferences set to show you External Disks on the Desktop.
Click once on the Desktop, click on Finder top left of the screen,
select Preferences and then General,
and check the boxes of theorems you want displayed on the Desktop.
To eject a drive just drag its icon down to the Trash, the trashcan
will change to an 'eject symbol' ⏏︎, when you let go of the disks icon
it will remove itself from your Desktop.
thanks so much. changing the Finder settings was the key. Once the external drive appeared in my finder list, it was easy to eject, with a right-click on the folder. Did not use the "drag to trash" method of ejecting. its great to have people willing to help us non-tech folks!
Make sure "External Disks" is checked in Finder > Preferences > Sidebar.
solved my problem. perfect answer. Thanks!
You're welcome.
