I can't view ARW file's thumbnails I can't view Sony ARW file's thumbnails with Sony A7RVI

This is the latest its of compatible cameras that should be read by macOS Catalina, it was updated in

May 2020. Digital camera RAW formats supported by iOS 13, iPadOS 13, and macOS Catalina - Apple Support

The Sony Alpha ILCE-7R IV is listed as being supported. I take it that's the correct model.

From memory I think there is a problem with Catalina rendering raw thumbnails, I am pretty sure there have

been questions asked about this before, particularly for Sony.

I am going to restart into Catalina to have a check.

It wasn't supposed to give you an answer to the problem, just to show you were not the only one

getting this issue. I am on Mojave and can see the thumbnails, but when I switch to Catalina

I can't, see below.

I doubt if Apple will do anything about it, this late into Catalina, it may improve in the next OS Big Sur.

You can download the free Adobe DNG converter, this will convert your Sonys ARW files to the .dng

(digital negative) format and you will be able to see the thumbnails and see them in Preview, Quicklook

and Photos.
