Let's make sure both your iPhone and your Watch are updated to the latest version. The latest version currently available for your Watch is watchOS 6.2.8 and the latest version for your iPhone is iOS 13.6:


Update your Apple Watch

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch


Once you ensure both devices are updated, please restart both devices. When the devices are back on, please follow these steps:


If your Apple Watch isn't connected or paired with your iPhone

To investigate this further, did you update either your iPhone or Watch to a beta version? Also, have you tried updating your Watch directly through the Watch? If you haven't, take a look here under the "Update directly on your Apple Watch" section:

My phone is up to date but I have no way to check the watch. However, when I try to connect it, it tells me to update during the setup, I do, but then it says my watch is already up to date. After that, my only options are to quit setup or update. I’ve tried this 100 times and it always says its up to date and brings me to the same screen, never allowing it to continue with the setup. I’ve tried restarting both devices multiple ways, multiple times. Still can’t get it connected. I bought this watch new in November 2019 and used it for months... not sure how this happened.
