My aging 2015 MacBook has a 1TB drive and a 3.1 GHz i7. I am considering a new MacBook with a 2TB drive - but the fastest (by clock speed) processor they offer is a 2.3 GHz Hz i7. Does this seem like a cpu downgrade???
Slower clock, several Intel generations later. The newer model isn’t a downgrade.
Think of it like a river – a 30% slower river that’s twice as wide and three times deeper will carry a lot more water.
Thanks! The 2015 cpu is dual core vs the newer quad core (10th gen). It is for audio production - not video, rendering, gaming etc. - so, per your point, I think I can de-emphasize the clock speed per core in favor of the cores, RAM, gen, etc. Thanks!
