A menu with diacritic symbols stopped working

Sometime ago menu with diacritic symbols stopped working for me. I pressed and hold a key to get this menu. Now press&hold types the key continuously. I believe I didn't change keyboard settings. And I don't find the setting to switch this menu on.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.13

Try typing this command in the Terminal then log out and back in or restart your Mac.

defaults write NSGlobalDomain ApplePressAndHoldEnabled -bool true
