Contacts locking up

Thank you for your reply. When I go to "How to force an app to close", there is a comment suggesting that you should not close apps unless they become unresponsive. I opened several apps including Contacts then turned the screen off and re-opened the phone and the problem no longer exists unless I close Contacts again.
