I'm using Kontakt with Mainstage 3. I created a new Kontakt "Instrument" and added 3 samples (total 7.5~mb). save the project and re-open Mainstage. in channel-strip It shows 742mb of ram usage while Kontakt shows 7.5mb~.
what should I do?
ok Interesting, please try to apply/turn on time machine(time stretching) on samples.
add 3-4 samples and re-open the mainstage. Can you take a picture of your channel

I did this test on 3 different computer and same result as you see in pictures. Believe me I don’t try to waste apple time.
I see :( it’s looks like the bug comes from
mainstage. Because when I remove kontakt from this channel and add again the memory looks ok. However when you have a lot of channel it quite hard to re assign kontakt every time.
I hope the will fix it soon. I’m using 16gb MacBook Pro and its a game changer for me.
So I have to play with Ableton live until they will fix it.
Hmmm, I've just found something interesting. I'm running just two instances of Kontakt in my concert but both are multi-racks with lots of aliases used in MainStage. However, the RAM usage that MainStage is displaying on channel strips is correct for one instance but not the other....and the instance which isn't correct indicates that it's using a LOT more RAM than Kontakt should be using e.g. Kontakt is probably using around 2GB for one multi-rack but MS is showing 6.49GB. The reason I didn't notice this is because my MacBook Pro has 64GB RAM and I never need to think about how much RAM is being used! However, I'm curious about the discrepancy, and why only one instance of Kontakt is experiencing this.
I tried purging all samples and reloading them but that didn't change anything.
It's not ok that Apple do not give any support system. After bought Macbook pro for more than 15k NIS! for live performance and you don't give any official support! this is a huge bug! it's a blocker because it took all available RAM! for nothing

What you're experiencing is not normal and I don't recall ever seeing a similar post anywhere. This leads me to think that your issue is perhaps unique to your setup....I don't have any problems with Kontakt and MainStage.

It couldn’t be unique to me. Because I just open a new kontakt channel without any complex/custom change. And tried with 3 different computers. All software updated and original.
So, if you open a kontakt channel and add some samples. And re open mainstage you don’t see this memory leak? Just let me know
have you look on the memory usage ever?
(btw, what kontakt version is?)
I tested this yesterday and I don’t get any memory leakage at all. I’m running Kontakt 6.3.2.
My system is a 2019 16” MacBook Pro with Catalina 10.15.5
