Get rid of Whatsapp from Search Results

Hi,

When using Spotlight to search for a contact, touching the handset icon next to the found contact's name should initiate the call. But it doesn't always do that. Sometimes it does, but other times it displays a list of options at the buttom of the screen. Like this:

****

The Siri & Search options are correct:

How can I get rid of that WhatsApp suggestion? I want a straight voice call to be initiated as soon as I touch the handset icon.

With some contacts it does initiate a call directly, even if they have WhatsApp accounts. So there must be something about the way they are stored in my address book. Something must be different for some of them. But I can't figure out what.

Any suggestions?

Thank you.

What I have experienced is when you keep using the iPhone regularly the contacts with whom you interact recently and regularly will only appear here.

If you do not interact with a contact then it will disappear automatically.

However you may....

  • To turn off Siri Suggestions, go to Settings  > Siri & Search, then turn off any of the following:
  1. Suggestions in Search
  2. Suggestions in Lookup
  3. Suggestions on Lock Screen

For a specific app, tap the app, then turn off Show Siri Suggestions.

Your personal information—which is encrypted and remains private—stays up to date across all your devices where you’re signed in with the same Apple ID. As Siri learns about you on one device, your experience with Siri is improved on your other devices.

  • Siri is designed to protect your information, and you can choose what you share. To learn more, go to Settings  > Siri & Search > About Search Suggestions & Privacy.

Siri suggestions are already turned off.

Sadly, someone was alarmed by some names in my picture and removed it. So now nobody has any idea what I was talking about. :-(

Bugger. Let me try that again.

Now nobody's sensitivities should be hurt anymore, hopefully.

So, Siri suggestions are turned off, the Siri-specific settings of Whatsapp are turned off, and yet I still see the Whatsapp number suggested in the search results for some contacts.

All of my contacts' stored numbers are stored as 'mobile'. There's no difference that I can perceive in the contacts list between a contact that's called directly and one for which the Whatsapp option is displayed.
