N letter in iPhone model number

Hi, i just curious with the N letter in iPhone model number, i've been searching on the internet but doesnt get the right conclusion. As in the internet said that it means replacement device, does replacement device is a brand new or it's just another refurbished device? Thanks!

It means it was a service replacement for a damaged or failed device.

it might have been new, it might have been remanufactured. There is no way for you or anyone at Apple to tell the difference.


If you got it as a replacement for a device you owned that failed or was damaged, that's normal.

If you bought it from a retailer, you definitely did NOT purchase a new device. You bought a used phone that someone got as a replacement from Apple service.
