How to delete autocomplete options from Calendar

I have an iPhone 7 Plus running iOS 13.6.

I regularly attend a meeting and sometimes need to make Calendar entries to reserve the time. I have no authority to invite anyone to this meeting.

When I create a new event in my Calendar app, based on the name of the organisation and group that is meeting there, I get autocomplete suggestions from a long-ago event that had a similar name.

If I tap on the suggested event, over 40 people get automatically invited, despite there being multiple more recent, similarly-named versions of the event where the listed people were not invited.

I know, the simple solution is "Don't tap". The reality is, when I'm busy and trying to quickly record the meeting date, I assume the suggestion will be from a more recent iteration, or forget that this has happened to me before, and then recall immediately when I open the event to add details and see the invitation list.

So, I need to know how to get rid of the autocomplete suggestions. Please.

I know how to delete them from Mail, is there is a similar process one can follow in Calendar?

Hi there leonz2017,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!

It sounds as though when creating a new Calendar event a suggestion appears to a previous event. You’re in the right place, we’d be glad to assist in seeking a solution.

If that sounds correct, you can delete a previous Calendar event which can remove the suggestion with these steps:

  • Tap Calendar > Search icon > and enter the name of the event you’d like to delete.
  • Tap on the Calendar event and then scroll down to tap Delete Event.
