Hi fh902,

It sounds like you're experiencing a couple issues with your MacBook Air, starting with the fans running constantly while viewing an HD video, as well as the battery losing its charge while connected to a charger. We can see how this would have an impact on using your MacBook Air properly. The SMC is a great start to troubleshoot these issues. You've come to the right place for additional help.

Let's start with the fans since the SMC did not help to resolve the issue. Check out this resource for additional suggestions for keeping your Mac within acceptable temperatures to reduce the fan noise:

Be sure to check the steps listed below "Here are some tips to manage the operating temperature".

With regards to your battery draining while it's charging we have some tips to help in this link:

Be sure to check out the suggestions under:

"Check graphics settings" and "My battery isn't charging"

Keep us posted if you're still experiencing issues after trying those various steps. Have a great day!

Hi Nicholas. Thank you for the information. I reset the SMC and the fan does not turn on while streaming 720p but still turns on when streaming 1080p in full screen. The room temperature is fine and the battery is remaining at 100%. Are there any other suggestions for streaming 1080p as the fan is very loud?

Thank you. :)
