I've bought a Sony ZV-1 lately.
With the current latest version of Catalina (10.15.6) I can't open RAW-files from this camera with the "Preview"-app.
(btw: same goes for iOS and iPadOS both running the latest iOS 14 beta, but that's another story.)
Anyone any ideas why I can't open Sony RAW photos?

It's not that you can't open Sony RAW photos, there is no support for RAW support of that specific camera. It may or may not be supported in the next version of macOS.

Affinity Photo 1.8.4 just opened a camera raw image from the ZV-1 that I downloaded from DPReview. This was on Mojave 10.14.6 (18G6020) which does not have Apple's latest Camera RAW support, and it is likely that the iOS version of Affinity Photo may be able to do the same thing.

Do you also know a solution for iPad OS? Because that's going to be my workflow. But Affinity and Pixelmator Photo isn't able to read those specific .arw files neither. Not to mention the files-app but that's up to Apple I guess.
Affinity on iPad shows me an error message: "The file type is not supported"
Ok, thank you guys! You helped me. I just need to be more patient. Hopefully the next updates are going to fix this on macOS and iOS/iPadOS.

I think it maybe has something to do with the fact, that the ZV-1 isn't officially listed yet. So the main OS (in my case the 4th iOS 14 beta) doesn't support these kind of .arw files.

Assuming they support the ZV-1. FWIW, Affinity Photo & GraphicConverter 11 will open them. Adobe DNG Converter can create DNG files from them that will open in Preview.
The Sony ZV-1 is not listed in Adobe's June 2020 Camera Raw Support listing either, so even the latest Photoshop, Elements, or Lightroom releases won't support it yet.
Pixelmator Pro doesn't open them on Macs. I don't have Affinity Photo on my iPads to check.
