LG Ultrafine 5k Monitor camera not working for Mac Book Air 13" 2017

I have the above and plugging in new LG 5k monitor the camera does not recognise and start up on the monitor even when I select it from within apps requiring camera eg FaceTime, Google Hangouts etc


Ive tried rebooting and changing security settings, but to no avail.


Is there a problem with connecting this generation of mac via Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 adapter to the monitor does one think, or is there a problem with the monitor (which is running the latest firmware update)

Choose a camera or microphone for FaceTime calls on Mac


For any other app, get the steps to change the access settings for the camera:
