Authorization code & 11 day wait time...

So here’s the scoop...I bought a new iphone because my last one wont turn on. When I went to set up my new phone, it won’t allow me to move past the 2-way authorization point (as my non working phone won’t turn on to get the code sent). Went to the Apple store and they said we can put another phone number in to receive the code - but it’s an 11 day waiting period. ELEVEN days :/ omg. In the meantime, I’m phone less and I can’t move forward even knowing my Apple ID & password. Anyone have this happen?? I can’t be the only person that has a dead phone and needs to update a new one. Please help!!!
