Change my iCloud account billing date

I'd like to change my iCloud billing date to earlier in the month. People seem to suggest I need to go back to free 5G account then update on the date when I'd like the payment to do out. Does any know if that's right? It seems a bit drastic if so. I've got 180Gb of data, so what happens to that? If it stays as is but I can't use more data that's fine I guess, as it will only be for 1 minute whilst I downgrade and then upgrade again.

It is automatically charged every month from when you set up the subscription, the only way to get around this would be to cancel, go back to the free 5GB and wait a few days.

You will not have access to any data over 5GB so in the meantime you might want to run a backup over iTunes so your data is still covered.
