Can I change my iCloud billing date to the 26th of every month?

Change my iCloud account billing date I'd like to change my iCloud billing date to earlier in the month. People seem to suggest I need to go back to free 5G account then update on the date when I'd like the payment to do out. Does any know if that's right? It seems a bit drastic if so. I've got 180Gb of data, so what happens to that? If it stays as is but I can't use more data that's fine I guess, as it will only be for 1 minute whilst I downgrade and then upgrade again.
