I can free rotate images in Preview using two fingers on the trackpad, and then holding the angle with those two fingers use three other fingers to press Command-Shift-3 to take a screen snap. of course the screen snap is now at the resolution of the screen and not the original image. Anyone find a better way?

All screen shots are 72 dpi. If you want an image rotated, and preserve the original resolution, then export it to the same or different image format, but with a revised name.
When I say rotate I mean free rotate at any angle, not just the built-in rotator of 90° increments.
Thanks for the tip but I’ve had Adobe CS since before it was invented. I know I can always go back to Photoshop or some other app. But I’m changing course in my career and workflow and going minimalist. If free software that’s included with Mac OS or free plugins don’t do it I will be ok with that.
I found a way to rotate images with Preview, which I described above and might be useful, and just want to know if there’s another way using Preview or other free Mac OS apps.
My question is about rotation, not resolution.
