iPad with optimized photo storage using too much memory

7.83GB of “optimized” photo storage on 32g 6th gen ipad

5.14GB for system - this is reasonable

9.81GB for “other”? What the heck?

plenty of iCloud storage space 2TB

why won’t photos app reduce the size of the local photo database?

ipad works terrible when it gets this full anyway - Almost unusable

Thanks, that worked!

it was a catch-22 with memory and installing update. I finally deleted a few apps, and used pc with iTunes to get the new version installed, but it was a tedious process. Might just backup to iCloud and reset device, update and then restore if I had to do it again
