MacBook Hardware Upgrade?

Hi, Community!

I have a slightly older MacBook Pro (I believe mine was manufactured in 2012 and I purchased it in 2015) and it runs pretty slow. I barely have any files saved on my computer, I'm not a gamer or app user, and yet my standard apps (even finder, preview, and screenshot) can sometimes take several minutes to open. I am not sure if the lag is caused by a hardware issue or by iOS upgrades.

Does anyone know if there's a way to upgrade the hardware so that it runs faster/more smoothly?

Any input is appreciated! Thanks!

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

Whether or not you could identify your MacBook Pro with accuracy

can be helpful to you, for using online sources of information; in this

instance, a quality 'selectable upgrade page' from reputable reseller.

You could access information from this page without commitment.

While I'm not certain of your MB/Pro 13-inch build year model, I do

know the specs of my own 'Mid-2012 MB/Pro9.2 (non-retina) 13-inch

with 2.5GHz dual core' that I'd upgraded RAM to 16GB (8GBx2 chips)

{..Detailed output include optional upgrades; depending on build..}

That's easily used as reference. ~Results my example, here in this link:

https://eshop.macsales.com/upgrades/macbook-pro-13-inch-mid-2012-2.5-ghz

So this link could take you very close; each section has detail entry-points.

Other handy info could be everymac.com (lookup) & free Mactracker.ca App.

Good luck & happy trails!🌤🎣

2012 is a breakpoint between MBPs that are easily upgraded and those that cannot upgraded. So we need more information.

Answering depends on the exact sub-model as shown when you do "about this Mac..." from your Apple menu:

This from High Sierra; Not sure the "About" window look like that in OS 10.15 but the sub-model is always the part with a date. Sure sure to include any modifiers—Early, Mid, or Late— that are present, and if it shows "Retina."

The more info we have the better the effectiveness of the responses
