If I know my apple id and password connected to my ipad, but don’t know my code to unlock it, can I reset the pass code in itunes?

If you forgot the passcode on your iPad, or your iPad is disabled - Apple Support
One thing to bear in mind, if you restore back to factory defaults and it has to redownload apps, well if those apps are no longer in the App Store you will lose them.
