Faulty replacement for Apple Pencil after warranty expired

I’ve recently gotten a replacement for an Apple Pencil from an authorised reseller, however the replacement was faulty. My Apple warranty coverage had already expired by the time I received the replacement. Am I able to get another free repair / replacement for this, or do I need to pay for this now?
