I just had a chat with support. And they mentioned that there would be a replacement cost associated with my Apple Pencil 2 even though it is under warranty. They mentioned only repair costs are covered under warranty and not the replacement cost.
Can someone clarify since I saw many posts where it was mentioned replacement was free of charge under warranty?

If eligible, you can purchase and activate AppleCare+ cover within 60-days of device purchase. Where available, you should be able to do so directly from iPad settings. Alternatively, you can purchase cover here:
I didn't have an option for AppleCare specifically while purchasing the device. I had the option to purchase AppleCare +, which I did not do.
Is the normally available warranty the same as AppleCare in this case?

If you had Applecare, it'd be covered. Without it, it is a regular mfr's warranty for hardware.
