Lightning to Headphone Jack Adapter

My headphone adapter isn't working as it should. It keeps turning on siri, pausing what is playing, going to the beginning of what's playing, skipping what's playing etc. I only bought it at the end of May 2020.

The issue is definitely with the headphones as my IPhone 8 was bought around the same time and there aren't any other issues with the lightning port.

What's wrong with the adapter? With the 1 year warranty would I be able to get a replacement for it?
