When I log into my laptop I see the username (my name). I enter the password and everything works. If I want to make any changes in the settings though where I have to click the lock and log in the username doesn't get displayed and if i enter the username with the correct password it doesn't get accepted.
Did anyone have this problem already and can help me? It's really weird.

In Sys Prefs>Users & Groups, does it say admin under your name on the left?
Edit: I made an admin account and gave my non admin account the admin status. That worked. Thank you very much!
No. It just says Standard. But this is the only account on this laptop and I've been using it all the time. So is this not the admin account? What happened? Because yesterday that was my admin account.

Have seen a lot more admin accounts getting turned into Standard accounts in the last year, I suspect something going wrong in Updates.
