Back protection for iPad Pro 2020

I have bought the Magic Keyboard for my iPad Pro 2020 (12.9"). There are numerous occasions when I separate the iPad from the keyboard and that leaves the back of the iPad unprotected and liable to be scratched. I do not want to buy a "normal" back protector as that would involve taking it on and off when I need to attach it to the keyboard. Is there some stick on back protector that can stay on when the iPad is attached to the keyboard? Thanks for any suggestions.

Use of the new Magic Keyboard requires a “naked” back for both secure alignment and securing of the magnets to the iPad body - and for Its electrical connection (via the Smart Connector with which the Magic Keyboard makes its electrical connection with iPad).

Any stick-on protection will interfere with this interface between the iPad and Keyboard - which for the Smart Connector, has a very limited tolerance.

Perhaps a simple “slip case” might be useful in providing some back-protection when not in use.

A work of caution...

The 2018/2020 iPad Pro models are very thin - and susceptible to “bending”. Reports indicate that is appears remarkably easy to introduce an unwanted bend to the casing of these models. A bend in the casing may have otherwise unforeseen consequences with alignment and contact with Magic Keyboard.

Ex-manufacture, acceptable tolerance for a bend in the casing is reportedly 500 microns (0.5mm) along the long edge of the iPad. Case bending, after delivery to the customer, is not covered by warranty - and is usually attributed to mishandling.

Personally, I would recommend that iPad is always protected by a rigid backing/case when transported or when carried.
