Hi Dmkchan,
Thanks for the update on this AirDrop issue.
Are you using the same Apple ID on both your iPad and iPhone or different ones? Are you able to successfully share this video through Mail or Messages? Add attachments to an email on iPhone. This can help isolate the issue a bit more. Do you have any issues receiving similar sized videos from other people?
Let us know
Hi Dmkchan,
We appreciate the additional details.
Is it possible to share that larger file with a friend or family member that is using a different Apple ID? This helps isolate the issue to your account verses the file itself.
If you continue to have issues with this file, Contact Apple Support will be your best next step.
Take care.
Hi Dmkchan,
Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having an issue saving a video to your iPad, when shared through AirDrop. We'd like to help!
Are you receiving any error messages about this video when you see it show up on your iPad? If you are, what does the exact message say? Are you using iCloud on your two devices? We're curious to know if this video is being saved to iCloud and shared to the iPad so you wouldn't need to AirDrop the specific file.
Then, make sure you're using AirDrop correctly by checking out this resource:
How to use AirDrop on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Hope that helps!
Don’t worry about it, I did it the stupid way : i copied the file to pc and then upload to ipad.
thx
Dear sir/madam,
Thank you for your reply.
I had 3 video files for airdrop. 2 were under or approx 1Gb, the huge one is 3.5Gb. The 2 under 1 Gb went fine. The 3.5Gb transferred with ‘failed to save item’. Tried another iphone 6+ too with same error. Would it be a problem with photos which may not be able to import such large files?
I do not use icloud for security reasons.
afterall i plug in with my laptop and transfer the files.
Dear sir/madam,
1) both using same id
2) total 3 files to be transferred, 2 smaller ones are ok, large one is 3.5Gb video doesn’t.
3) messaging and gmail did not work for large files! Thats why i use airdrop!
thx
According to doc, airdrop does nit hv a file size limit.
