I cannot get the floating microphone icon to disappear from my desktop. I've disabled Voice Control in my settings, but it continues to show up, even after a reboot! Help?
MacBook Pro 13″, OS X 10.11
It works for me on Mojave. On Catalina, you must say two things in order:
Do the above, and do not manually uncheck enable voice control in its Accessibility panel beforehand.

Hi jeremy_v! The dictation setting in my Keyboard preferences is also off. I toggled and rebooted, just to be sure. No change, the icon is still floating on my desktop...
Thanks VikingOSX, but this didn't seem to help. If I "Wake Up" the microphone icon and say "Stop Dictation", nothing happens.
YES! Using those commands exactly, and changing the setting with Siri WORKED. Truly bizarre and thank you so, so much for your help.
