How do I add a new Genre to my iTunes Library?

Find a track that should have that genre. Right-click, Get Info, put the new genre in the Genre filed on the Details tab, and OK out to save it.

Once you have at least one song with that genre, it will appear on the drop-down and in the column browser going forward.

iTunes Playlist using Genres I am completely new to Apple. A couple of weeks ago I bought my very first Apple product, an iPad Mini 6. This means that my knowledge of all things Apple is effectively zero. I have spent the last couple of weeks getting to know the Mini and iOS 15 and I have made some progress. I have now started on Music. I have successfully transferred my mp3 files on my Windows 11 PC to the iTunes Library, on my PC and was then able to transfer my mp3 files from the iTunes library on the PC to my Mini. So far so good! I am now about to start creating playlists and I am interested in using genres. my question is this. Does iTunes select it's own genre for the mp3 files or will it use the tags I have created for the files?
