How to setup an Apple account for a shared device used by a minor that you can redeem an iTunes card for them to make purchases independent from my Apple id

If under 13 years old, you will need to set up Family Sharing to create an ID.

Family Sharing and Apple ID for your child.

Family Sharing - Set up.

Buy/redeem iTunes Gift cards to the account. Charges will be deducted from the account balance before the organizer's credit card is charged.

App Store & iTunes Gift Cards by Email.

Gift cards redeem.

Gift Card - can’t redeem.
