Apple TV+ Keeps Signing Out While Watching Content

I have an Apple TV 4K and have the free Apple TV+ subscription. I’ve recently updated to tvOS 13.4.8 and now Apple TV+ keeps signing out when I’m watching content.

I was in the middle of Ted Lasso the other day and the screen went black, then said “signing out”, went back to the home screen where all I had was the 7 day free trial option.

This isn’t the first time this has happened. Has happened 3 other times but I wasn’t watching Apple TV+ at the time. Only noticed it when I went to view my movie purchase and my library was empty.

Strangely enough when I went to the account settings, my iCloud account details are still signed in. The only way to fix was to sign out of my iCloud account and sign back in again, starting the whole set up process again. I’ve done this 4 times now.

Does anyone know what’s causing this as it’s making watching Apple TV+ infuriating. if this keeps up I’ll be cancelling the subscription when the free year ends. Such a shame as there are some terrific shows on Apple TV+.

Hi there. I have restarted Apple TV each time

this occurs and it doesn’t make a difference. Apple TV+ still only gives the 7 day trial option and all purchase are gone. This occurs every couple of days and only started when I updated to tvOS 13.4.8

The only way to “fix” it is to sign out of my Apple ID completely and sign back in going through the whole set up process again. Only then do I go back to my original year trial and all my purchases show up again.

This never occurred prior to tvOS 13.4.8

Were any changes to this Apple ID?
Do you know if you currently use two-factor authentication on the Apple ID?
Does this behavior persist on any other devices?

Hi there.

No, there have not been any changes to my Apple ID.
Yes, I do use two-factor authentication on my Apple ID.
No, this does not appear to happen on my iPad or iPhone. It only happens on my Apple TV 4K.

I also don’t use family sharing as I live on my own.
