Questions on Copy/Pasting clips & their effects

Hi There,

I have a few questions about copy pasting clips and their effects:

1) I want to copy a set of consecutive clips and paste exactly above the original ones (on the primary story line). I use the OPTION key to duplicate but they get pasted exactly at the end of the storyline. I am not getting key to just past the whole set above the original. (Screenshot attached, The set of clips is highlighted)

2) After moving the clips I want to copy the audio/video effects and transformation to be applied to all of them in one go. It looks like using SHIFT+COMMAND+V does the copy in some and skips a few.

A big thank you in advance if someone can help.

Thanks,

Nishkam

Select the clip you want to copy the effects from (and type Command-C). Select ALL the clips you want to Paste Effects or Paste Attributes to and type Command-Option-V to paste effects or Command-Shift-V to Paste Attributes.

Paste Effects will paste everything without asking (typically not what you want). Paste Attributes will give you a dialog box and you can check what you want to include in the paste operation. This is most helpful if you have other settings applied to the clip you copied than just Effects, or you have an extra effect (or more than one) you don't want to paste to the others (like a color correction, Transforms, Crops, etc...)

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the response.

Apologies. The screenshot was not getting uploaded. Now it did.

Please find the screenshot inserted above. I have manually added the above one by one.

Option and select clips to be copied above the primary story line pastes the clip at the end of the primary story line. Is there anyway to just paste it exactly above?

PS:

  • I am trying to create a rectangular clip using the guassian effect and the shape mask effect. This is because I have old clips of 720pixels with square frames.
  • As I having two sets of clips the rendered file size is doubling - almost 35GB for a one hour output. Is there a way to reduce the output size?

I can post more screenshots if the questions are not clear.

Thanks again,

N
