Hi,

Please note that (at least according to the Android help at https://support.google.com/android/answer/9059108?hl=en) Mac computers cannot tether with Android via USB.

You could use Wi-Fi instead. Once a working hotspot on the Android mobile phone has been established, it should be possible to connect from a Mac notebook in the same way as to any other Wi-Fi base station.
