Uninstalling

can i uninstall os x ei capitan. Im asking this because when I upgraded to OS X EI CAPITAN my iPhoto was not. It's saying that I need to upgrade to new version but it's not available in Canada. So I'd like to go back to what I had before update.

use OS X recovery by choosing these key commands: to use OS X recovery

Start up your Mac while holding down one of the key commands until you hear the startup chime and see either a spinning globe or Apple logo.

OS X Utilities window will open, on which you will see the options to Restore From Time Machine Backup, Reinstall OS X , Get Help Online and Disk Utility.

  • Command + R Will install the latest version installed on your Mac - won’t upgrade you to the latest version.
  • Option/Alt + Command + R Will upgrade you to the latest macOS compatible with your Mac. Note: If you aren’t running Sierra 10.12.4 of later, this will install the version that came with your Mac; if your Mac has a T2 chip then Option/Alt + Command + R will install the latest macOS on your Mac.
  • Shift + Option/Alt + Command R (if you are running Sierra 10.12.4 of later) will install the version of macOS that came with your Mac, or the one closest to it that is still available.

Follow the steps in the section above to reinstall macOS via recovery.

If you've Time Machine backup from prior to upgrade El Capitan, that should have iPhoto.

The last iPhoto 9.6.1 version was still available after upgrade to El Capitan; and can be used

in this Mac OS X alongside the system's newer Photos, there. They have different libraries.

Some research would be involved to see where the last iPhoto may be found at this late date.

Mine was easier to accommodate because original Mavericks and El Capitan ~ were both on

one hard drive, in separate partitions. (Second internal matching HDD has High Sierra 10.13.6

with 'extra partitioned space' to also consider Mojave 10.14.6.) Mine allows four builds macOS.

Other choices and access to internet recovery, macOS Utilities, and others, are available with

different key sequences on startup into Recovery. ~ This also works to add recovery to erased

wiped or new hard drive replacement.

Given the lack of security updates for older Mac OS X; you may reconsider, check what's best.
