sidecar connection

Can sidecar be used to connect an iMac with a MacBook pro or is it just for Macbook to iPad only? And if it cant can an iMac and MacBook pro be connected so that you can have a second screen?

Compatible iPad only...

Under no condition has apple ever supported MBP as an external monitor.
