It will never work if you attempt to copy from the DCIM folders. You MUST use the Windows photo import app as described in the link. The DCIM folders are not where most of the photos are stored; they are in a SQLite database that is not accessible from outside of the phone, and most of the content is protected against copying for security reasons.

But the link also has ways to import photos using iCloud; if you have iCloud photos enabled that is how you should be transferring the photos. Log in to https://icloud.com, click on photos, select them and download them. Or install iCloud for Windows and you can view them and copy them from there.

Still having trouble.

The Photo app. will not import but about 10 photos before it errors. I will then click to retry and it will kick back the same popup.

When I go into Apple iPhone hard drive (DCIM) to copy and paste, it will stop as well. I will try to copy it to an external hard drive and it errors as well.

I have been using "Live" photos and I believe that it may be corrupt as it tries to import the photo and also the Live File.

As to the Photo app., it doesn't know if it is a picture or a movie file now. They all now have the arrow on the face of them.

What a mess this has become !

A while back, I deleted the extra live file on one of the photo folders. This shouldn't matter as I have tried to import all the pictures to a new file alone.

I have tried to import/download on my Windows 7, 8, 10. All of the computers do the same thing as above.

Everything else on the iphone works fine.

I have read that if the icloud is on the photos will not import, is this correct ? The copies still should have worked by copying the DCIM folders and it didn't work.
