Would Macbook Pro shutoff the power adapter to let the battery work? Would Macbook Pro shutoff the power adapter to let the battery work? Or, it might be that the power socket is faulty? I only noticed this, when the MBP made a warning sound, as the battery level was ~34%. The power light was on, on the socket bar, but the adapter was cold. I put it on another unused socket and it started working after a few shakes. We have round contact pins in our country and only two of them, and the adapter is too tall. Maybe, it got knocked off the contacts. It is somewhat hard to believe that the MBP can control the adapter and put it off.

Looks like something heat-related occurring inside the adapter. I'd stop using it, discard it, and buy a replacement.
