iphone backup not readable on macbook in text editor

Hi all,

I'm trying to open my iphone back up files in Finder on my macbook Cataline 10.15.5.

It is a text editor file and it opens in code which I cannot read.

How can I open my backup files in a readable non developer language?

backup for iphone not showing in finder I recently downloaded OS Monterey (12.0.1) on my 2015 MacBook air and backed up my iPhone 7. It shows in my backup folder, but when I try to restore backup to my new iPhone SE (2nd Gen) it doesn't show it nor can I select "restore backup..." it's not selectable. And when I look in my "Manage backups" it doesn't show...but I see it in my library/applicationsupport/mobilesync/backup folder backed up ... I've restarted my computer and my phone, but still no change. Help.

iPhone backup fails on Mac Hi, my iPhone is not backing up to my Mac. I believe the backup starts, but after the pie chart completes.. it is not recognized as a backup. "Last backup on this Mac" remains as "unknown." Manage Backups list does not show it either! After every attempt, it ends the same way. Both my iPhone & Mac softwares are up to date and were restarted several times. Please help!

Those files are not intended to be read.

They are intended solely to be used with Apple gear.
