Backup on Macbook only showing as files?

Hello. I recently backed my Iphone 11 up through my MacBook with Big Sur. When I search for my backup and locate the folder, it only shows files I'm unable to open (opens into notes with codes). I don't see any of my photos/videos. Where can I see these?

iPhone 11, iOS 14

iPhone backups backs up everything in one blob. It is intended to be used as a source for a complete restore, and there is no provision for using it for inspecting individual items. Those items should all be available as originals on your phone.

If they are no longer available in the original on your phone, you need to do a restore to see them again.

If you want to share photos between your Mac and you iPhone, a rich set of photo sharing features are available through your iCloud account:
