I have a Macbook Pro (15" mid-2012) running Yosemite. I have Adobe CS6 installed on it.
I wish to buy a 2020 16" MacBook, but will CS6 work on it? I bought my current macbook with it pre-installed and planned to use a TimeMachine back-up to transfer it to the new model.

No, CS6 will not run on Catalina, since Catalina does not support 32-bit apps. Technically, the Photoshop app itself could run but Adobe’s licensing components that are required to authorize the app each time it starts are 32-but and won’t run, meaning CS6 won’t run.
You’ll need to subscribe to Photoshop CC to run on Catalina. FWIW, the Photography bundle that includes Lightroom is cheaper than just PS, although it comes with only a trace of online storage (which I don’t need, so I subscribed to the PS/LR bundle even though I don’t use LR).
