Red yellow green traffic buttons on Mac air

Why do I lose the buttons at all?

why can’t I get my page back to the way it was instead of full screen? What did I mistakenly touch to reset my page from normal to wide width?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.14

If you are in Full Screen mode, then push your mouse against the top of the monitor until the titlebar reappears. Press ESC key to return to normal more.

I'm assuming you're stuck in full screen? If so just hover your pointer at the top of the screen for a second or two. The buttons will reappear. Then just hit the green button and it'll resize the browser window.
