iWeb

Hi

The undersigned is an old boy from 1945.

My big passion now is to take stock of my life and gather the stuff I have and can find, and then gather it in a great story built up in hypertext and hyper images using iWeb.

It has so far, for over 10 years, worked reasonably ... but now my iWeb fills approx. 5 GB and it feels like my iMac is getting harder and harder to handle the larger amount. On that occasion, I have been anxious to get my iMac upgraded! It now looks like this:

macOS Sierra, Version 10.12.6, iMac (27-inch, Late 2009),

Processor 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo,

Memory 12 GB 1067 MHz DDR3,

Start disk "Makinrummet" (Capacity 255 GB Used 157 GB),

Extra internal disk "Workspace" (Capacity 1000 GB Used 323 GB),

Graphics ATI Radeon HD 4670 256 MB,

Serial number W894264Y5PE.

The intentions for my project can be seen via the link to the preliminary semi-finished edition:

My questions now are:

1. Can there be problems using the old program iWeb in a new haddisk / e? (It's incomprehensible to me that Apple is failing users of one of their most amazing products to such an extent!).

2. To protect myself, I would like to make a backup copy of my MacProo laptop. (iMac is already installed on this ... but I have not been able to export / import the version from my iMac.

It can be stated that I have found the file on Users / larsjorgenjakobsen / Library / Application Support / iWeb / domain.sites2

3. As I have experienced it, it is only possible to build a single website where the different "chapters" can work independently.

However, is it possible to split iWeb into several independent programs or projects?

Hoping to hear from someone who knows something!

Many greetings

Lars Jørgen Jakobsen

iWeb was discontinued about 7 years ago and will not run in the current System, Catalina, and in any system later than Sierra or maybe High Sierra.

So if you're thinking about getting a new Mac I'd keep your current on to run iWeb on along with iMovie HD 6 and other older apps. The current system and those that follow will not run 32 bit apps. You can download and run the free GO64 app to find out which of your current apps will be incompatible with the current and future systems.

OR you can migrate to a new and supported web authoring app that supports all of the current web protocols and rules. One that many migrated to is EverWeb because it has a user interface very similar to iWeb and has some copy and paste capability from existing websites to those being created. Also it lets you start with a blank canvas where many others force you to choose a predetermined theme.

There are many others available so with proper due diligence you'll be able to find one that fits your needs.
