I backup my whatsapp through Icloud and not through the backup option of whatsapp itself. So under setting, my name, Icloud I select whatsapp. However my backup is only 1GB while my whatsapp is already 5Gb is everyting backup then?

Under iPhone Storage, your WhatsApp is 5GB (this includes the app size plus all the documents & data on it).
Why is the back up then only 1GB? Either one or all these reasons, I think!

I'm not following how your WhatsApp backup is more than the overall backup of the device.
