Virus cleaner

What is the best virus cleaner to use on a mac that will not add more viruses? My mac keeps getting search baron and marquis and it is causing my browsers to not stay open. I want to get rid of them and just start over because they always come back when I follow the steps to delete them.

If you removed suspicious Profile has it resolved your issue(?) Maybe this is all it took...

run the trusted utility https://www.malwarebytes.com/mac/ if in doubt.

If you suspect you have installed adware/malware:

>System Preferences>Profiles. found next to Accessibility (click into it and then remove all the suspicious things from the list.) May or may not be present if no profiles found.

Adware Removal Guide—Manual removal of : http://www.thesafemac.com/arg-identification/

or

Try running this trusted utility https://www.malwarebytes.com/mac/

also Verify you are not using SOCKS proxy:

>System Preferences>Networks>Advanced>Proxy uncheck the box

Adware/malware launch daemons can set SOCKS proxies without user participation.

(SOCKS is an Internet protocol that exchanges network packets between a client and server through a proxy server.)

Surely you jest. If you are running the latest OS with its “quarantined” OS/system within a non-accessible volume, malware cannot penetrate it. Neither can any anti-virus app, so it is utterly useless. Pop-ups and malware can still happen, but they also will using AV apps - the best antidote is the malwarebytes already recommended.
