Google slides on Ipad

Why doesn’t google slides on the IPad have the same capabilities as on a MacBook? For instance, my grand daughter’s assignment is the use google slides to trace the letter S. On the training video from the teacher, she shows how to go to Lines, and scroll down to squiggle. The IPad doesn’t have that so she couldn’t complete the assignment. Just bought the IPad since her school district is now all online. But if she can’t complete assignments, it’s not very useful. Suggestions?

I have viewed tutorials for Google Slides. Here’s my question: is there anywhere in slides that I can write, not type, on a slide? I see the “line” but it draws straight lines. There is nowhere that I see where I can actually use my finger or Apple Pencil to trace the letter “S” which was what my grand daughter needed to do on an assignment learning to use Google Slides. She is doing this because her school has chosen not to return to the classroom yet! Ugh.
