Catalina 10.15.6 and DP alt mode

When I installed Catalina 10.15.6 my Asus Zenscreen (model MB16AC) stopped working. The error message was "Your device does not support DP Alt mode." As of 8/23/20 I've installed the latest drivers from Asus and from DisplayLink. No help. In Security and Settings, screen recording is enabled as I've read in help articles.

I guess I'm out of luck until/unless DisplayLink and/or Asus comes out with new drivers unless anyone has any ideas. I've considered buying another display, but I'm concerned it may have the same issue.

Thanks in advance for any input.

I could get it to work connecting it with the provided USB-C to USB adapter and with a USB to USB-C adapter, you need to install their ASUS DisplayLink manager though: https://www.asus.com/Monitors/ZenScreen-MB16ACE/HelpDesk_Download/

I have the same issue: I have just spent 3 hours trying to resolve this myself but no joy. I, too, have the latest driver installed, and screen recording is enabled. It worked perfectly until I foolishly agreed to upgrade to 10.15.6 this morning. My screen is only a couple of months' old. I shouldn't have to look at buying a new one ... Thanks from me too if anyone can solve this.

Hi teocomi -

Thanks for your reply. I am using the cable and adapter provided and had that Asus driver installed. It worked for a year and a half until I upgraded to Catalina 10.15.6. That's when I got the error message. I have reinstalled the Asus driver numerous times, and have downloaded the driver from DisplayLink (https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/macos) numerous times as well. I just tried again this morning hoping that Asus or DisplayLink might have come out with a new release for their respective drivers, but to no avail.

I hesitate to purchase a new display as the issue appears to be with the OS. (Plus the fact that this one is perfectly fine...there just appears to be a compatibility issue with the OS.)
