I have a 16 sec clip I recorded using iPhone 11 Pro that I am trying to get into a iMovie project. I first tried to drag it directly from my Photos into the project but it showed up as a .jpg. I then imported into the project first but when I drag it into the scene it converts to a .jpg. Help!

Your issue has come up before on this forum.
Try importing your video into iMovie using the Photos item in the sidebar of an iMovie project. That's the recommended way, although the other ways that you tried should have worked, too. I don't know why the .jpg conversion happens with some video clips.
